W11D5 - Forum (Kennel Rules)

by Kati Evans

Here is the full production script for Week 11, Day 5.

To ensure this fills the 30–60 minute window, this script focuses on the Logistics of Stray Property. The interactive segment "Lost or Loose?" is designed to help players understand when they can legally seize a slave they find wandering alone (a very common RP scenario).

Crucial Note: Ensure Plant A and Plant B are present. Their questions clarify the difference between "finding" a slave and "stealing" one.

📜 SECOND LIFE SCRIPT: WEEK 11, DAY 5

Event: The Forum ("The Kennel Master's Rules") Host: Kati Evans Target Duration: 40–50 Minutes (Interactive)

🟢 PRE-EVENT CHECKLIST

  • [ ] Rez the Stage.

  • [ ] Props: A Catch-Pole (a stick with a loop) or a Coil of Rope on the podium.

  • [ ] Staff: Ensure Plant A and Plant B are in the audience.

  • [ ] 1:00 PM: Announce 5-minute gathering period.

🎤 PART 1: THE RECAP (Kati)

(Walk to the podium. Look professional. Hands clasped.)

[Chat Block 1] /me steps onto the stage, resting her hands on the podium. She scans the crowd, nodding to the Masters and glancing at the slaves. "Tal, Citizens. We have reached the end of Week 11. The week of Ownership."

[Chat Block 2] "We have established the foundation of property law. On Day 1, we learned that a slave is an Object. On Day 2, we watched poor Dina seized by the Kennels because her Master forgot her."

[Chat Block 3] "On Day 3, the Poet sang of the Brand—the permanent mark of the Master. And yesterday... we saw the price of Medical Fraud. We learned that a sick slave is a dangerous weapon."

[Chat Block 4] "Today, we end with the most practical question for any citizen walking the streets: What do we do with the Strays?"

[Chat Block 5] "If you find a wallet in the street, you give it to the Guards. But if you find a girl? She talks. She walks. She might lie. Today, we discuss the Kennels and the Laws of Seizure."

🐕 PART 2: THE STRAY DEFINITION (Lecture)

[Chat Block 6] /me picks up the coil of rope (or catch-pole). "Law 6.5.2 is the 'Stray Rule.' It says: 'If the Kennels find a slave without an escort or purpose, they may hold the slave for 3 hands.'"

[Chat Block 7] "What is 'Purpose'? If a slave is carrying a basket of fruit to her Master's house, she has purpose. She is working. Leave her be."

[Chat Block 8] "But if she is wandering the market, looking at jewelry, flirting with guards, and carrying nothing? She has no purpose. She is Loitering. And loitering property is Stray property."

🔍 PART 3: LOST OR LOOSE? (Interactive Game)

[Chat Block 9] /me leans forward. "I want to test your judgment as Citizens. I will describe a slave you find in the street. You tell me: LEAVE HER (She is working) or SEIZE HER (She is Stray)?"

[Scenario 1] "Scenario 1: You find a slave sitting on a bench outside the Baths. She is holding a stack of folded robes. She tells you, 'My Mistress is bathing inside.' Leave Her or Seize Her?" (WAIT 30 SECONDS. Answer: LEAVE HER.)

[Chat Block 10] "Verdict: LEAVE HER. She has a purpose (holding robes). She has a location (waiting for Mistress). She is effectively 'tethered' by her command. Touching her would be interfering with a Citizen's property."

[Scenario 2] "Scenario 2: You find a slave sleeping in an alleyway at sunrise. She is shivering. She has a collar, but she says, 'My Master locked me out last night.' Leave Her or Seize Her?" (WAIT 30 SECONDS. Answer: SEIZE HER.)

[Chat Block 11] "Verdict: SEIZE HER. Even if she has a Master, she is unsecured. She is vulnerable to theft or death. You take her to the Kennels for 'Safe Keeping.' The Master will have to pay a fine to get her back. It teaches him to lock his doors."

[Scenario 3] "Scenario 3: A slave runs past you. She is panting. She looks over her shoulder. She carries nothing. When you stop her, she says, 'I am running an errand!' but she cannot name the errand. Leave Her or Seize Her?" (WAIT 30 SECONDS. Answer: SEIZE HER.)

[Chat Block 12] "Verdict: SEIZE HER. Running without a package? Looking fearful? That smells like Escape. Law 6.3.8. Detain her until her story is checked. If she is escaping, you will be rewarded. If she is just exercising... well, she should have walked."

💰 PART 4: RENTALS (The Temporary Master)

[Chat Block 13] /me sets the rope down. "Now, a word on Rentals. Law 6.6.5." "You may rent a slave like you rent a wagon. But remember the rule: 'Rental slaves cannot be removed from the city.'"

[Chat Block 14] "If you rent a girl for the night, and you take her out the City Gate for a picnic... you have committed Theft. You moved the asset out of the secured zone. If she runs away in the woods, you owe the owner her full price."

❓ PART 5: Q&A SEGMENT

[Chat Block 15] "I will take questions now regarding Kennels, Seizures, or Rentals."

(Signal PLANT A)

[PLANT A QUESTION] (Plant asks): "Mistress! If I seize a stray slave, can I keep her? I mean, I found her!"

[Chat Block 16 - Answer] /me shakes her head firmly. "No. That is Theft. 'Finders Keepers' does not apply to registered property."

[Chat Block 17] "If you find a stray cow, you do not eat it. You bring it to the pound. If you find a stray slave, you bring her to the City Kennels. If no one claims her after 3 Hands, then the City claims her. You can buy her at the auction, but you cannot just keep her in your basement."

(Signal PLANT B)

[PLANT B QUESTION] (Plant asks): "Mistress, what if I rent a slave and she breaks her leg while working for me? Do I have to pay?"

[Chat Block 18 - Answer] /me nods. "Yes. You broke it, you bought it."

[Chat Block 19] "If you rent a tharlarion and ride it off a cliff, you owe the stable master. If you rent a slave and she is injured under your care, you are liable for her medical bills or her replacement value. Inspect the goods before you rent them."

🏁 THE CLOSING

[Chat Block 20] /me smooths her robes. "Property requires management. If you cannot manage your slaves, the City will manage them for you."

[Chat Block 21] "Next week, we move to the rules of Survival. Week 12: Slavery Law (Conduct)."

[Chat Block 22] "We will discuss the Three Death Rules: Touching Weapons, Striking a Free Person, and Lying. These are the rules that get a slave executed without trial."

[Chat Block 23] "Slaves, you must attend. Masters, bring them so they learn fear."

[Chat Block 24] "The Circle is closed!"

(Signal Crier/Slave to end.)
