🎤 THE SCRIPT
(Walk to the podium. Take your time arranging scrolls. Look busy. Wait until the crowd is settled.)
[Chat Block 1 - The Welcome] /me steps up to the podium, smoothing the heavy fabric of her robes. She takes a long moment to scan the faces in the crowd, making eye contact with those in the front row to establish authority. "Tal, Citizens, Residents, and travelers. I see Builders, I see Scribes, I see those of the Low Castes, and I see property at your feet."
[Chat Block 2] "Welcome to the very first gathering of The Circle. Look around you. We do not meet in a stuffy classroom where the air is stale. We do not meet in the dark archives of the Scribes where only the elite may walk. We meet here, in the open air."
[Chat Block 3] "Why? Because the Law belongs to everyone. In Teletus, ignorance is no defense. You cannot tell the Magistrate, 'I did not know,' and expect mercy. The Law is the air we breathe. If you do not know how to breathe, you suffocate."
[Chat Block 4] "So, for the next thirteen weeks, we are bringing the Law to you. No fees. No tests. Only knowledge. Knowledge that might save your hand... or your life."
[Chat Block 5 - Section 1: Authority] /me rests her hands on the sides of the podium, leaning forward slightly. "Today, we start with the foundation. We must understand the Head and the Heart of this city. First, the Head. Law 1.1 states clearly: The Isle of Teletus is governed by the Ubar."
[Chat Block 6] "He is the final word. The Captain of our ship. But a Captain needs officers. He does not rule in silence. He rules with the counsel, vote, and support of the High Council."
[Chat Block 7] "Look at the robes in the street. The White of the Initiates. The Blue of the Scribes. The Yellow of the Builders. The Green of the Physicians. The Red of the Warriors. And the Gold of the Merchants. These Heads of Caste ensure that one man’s will is balanced by the wisdom of many."
[Chat Block 8 - The Chain of Command] "I want you to remember the Chain of Command. Many new citizens make a mistake here. They have a grievance—perhaps a neighbor stole a chicken—and they try to run straight to the Ubar's palace."
[Chat Block 9] /me shakes her head slowly. "Do not do this. If you have a grievance, you go to your Caste. Your Caste goes to the Council. The Council goes to the Ubar. If you try to skip links in the chain, the chain will snap back and strike you. Respect the hierarchy."
[Chat Block 10 - Section 2: The Home Stone] /me pauses, shifting her weight. Her expression turns solemn, almost reverent. "Now, we speak of the Heart. Law 1.3: The Home Stone. It is more than a rock. It is the soul of Teletus. It is the difference between a civilization and a campsite. A camp moves; a City stands."
[Chat Block 11] "If you are a Citizen, you have sworn your life to it. If you are a Resident, you sleep under its protection. It is the gravity that holds our walls together."
[Chat Block 12 - Interactive Moment] /me straightens up and scans the crowd again. "I want to ask a question to The Circle. Do not speak, just raise your hand. How many of you have actually seen the Home Stone of Teletus with your own eyes?"
(WAIT 20-30 SECONDS. Look at the people who raise hands. Nod at them.)
[Chat Block 13] "It is rare. It is precious. Whether you have seen it or not, if you sleep behind these walls, you sleep under its weight. Respect it. Defend it. And it will keep you safe."
[Chat Block 14 - Section 3: Treason] "And this brings us to the darkest word in our language: Treason. Law 1.4. This law lists the crimes that will get you killed. Not fined. Not whipped. Killed."
[Chat Block 15] "Theft of the Stone. Selling information to enemies. These are obvious. No one commits these by accident. But there are ways to commit Treason without meaning to."
[Chat Block 16] /me lowers her voice to a stern warning. "Listen closely to Subsection G: 'Making unauthorized maps or key copies of Ubarate buildings.' This is where the foolish die."
[Chat Block 17] "Imagine a visitor. He thinks, 'I just want a map to find my way to the library.' He draws the layout of the streets. He draws the gates. If that map is unauthorized? That is Treason."
[Chat Block 18] "Imagine a servant. She thinks, 'The Master is busy, I will make a copy of this back gate key for the delivery boy.' She is trying to be helpful. But to the Law? That is Treason."
[Chat Block 19] "The safety of the Home Stone is absolute. There is no middle ground. There is no 'I didn't mean to.' There is only loyalty, or there is death. Do not draw the city walls. Do not copy keys. It is that simple."
[Chat Block 20 - Transition to Q&A] /me takes a sip of water from a goblet on the podium, letting the heavy words sink in. "We have some time remaining before the sun moves on. I will open The Circle for questions regarding Authority, the Council, or Treason."
[Chat Block 21] "Who has a question for the Chair?"
(WAIT. Give the audience 30 seconds. If no one speaks, signal PLANT A.)
❓ Q&A SEGMENT (The Time Filler)
[PLANT A QUESTION] (Your Plant/Friend asks): "Mistress! You spoke of authorized maps. If I draw a map of the market for my cousin who is visiting, is that Treason?"
[Chat Block 22 - Answer] /me nods at the question. "A good question. The Law is not trying to make you get lost. No. A map of the market stalls is trade. A map of the Council Chambers, the Ubar’s Palace, or the City Walls... that is strategy."
[Chat Block 23] "Strategy belongs to the Warriors. If your map shows how to breach the city, or how to bypass a guard post, it is Treason. If it shows where to buy cabbages, you are safe. Use common sense."
(WAIT. If no other questions, signal PLANT B.)
[PLANT B QUESTION] (Your Plant/Friend asks): "Mistress, what if I suspect someone of Treason? What if I see someone sketching the gate? Do I attack them?"
[Chat Block 24 - Answer] /me shakes her head sternly. "Do not be a hero. If they are sketching the gate, they are either a dangerous spy or a fool. In either case, confronting them could get you killed."
[Chat Block 25] "Observe them. Remember their face. Remember their clothes. And bring that information to the Magistrates or the Guards. Let the professionals handle the steel. Your duty as a Citizen is to see, and to report."
🏁 THE CLOSING
[Chat Block 26] /me smiles briefly, lightening the mood slightly as she closes the scroll on the podium. "That is your lesson for today. We have an Ubar to lead us, a Council to guide us, and a Home Stone to unite us."
[Chat Block 27] "Tomorrow, at this same time, we move from lecture to performance. Our players will perform a short play titled 'The Traitor’s Folly.'"
[Chat Block 28] "You will see exactly what happens when a man forgets the laws of Treason we discussed today. Bring your friends. Thank you for attending The Circle. You are dismissed!"
(Step back from the podium to signal the end.)
