W6D5 - Forum (Safe or Slave Scenario)

by Kati Evans

Here is the full production script for Week 6, Day 5.

To ensure this fills the 30–60 minute window, this script relies on a gamified segment called "Safe or Slave?" You will present complex scenarios and ask the audience to vote/debate the outcome before you give the legal ruling. This debate is what eats up the time and makes it engaging.

Crucial Note: Ensure Plant A and Plant B are present. Their questions set up next week's theme ("The Trap").

📜 SECOND LIFE SCRIPT: WEEK 6, DAY 5

Event: The Forum ("Safe or Slave?") Host: Kati Evans Target Duration: 40–50 Minutes (Highly Interactive)

🟢 PRE-EVENT CHECKLIST

  • [ ] Rez the Stage.

  • [ ] Staff: Ensure Plant A and Plant B are in the audience.

  • [ ] 1:00 PM: Announce 5-minute gathering period.

🎤 PART 1: THE RECAP (Kati)

(Walk to the podium. Look relaxed but authoritative. Establish eye contact with the ladies in the crowd.)

[Chat Block 1] /me steps onto the stage, resting her hands on the podium. She smiles, looking over the familiar faces. "Tal, Citizens. We have reached the end of Week 6. The week of The Trap."

[Chat Block 2] "It has been a heavy week. On Day 1, we held the collar in our hands. On Day 2, we watched Lady Mira dragged away for her Debts. On Day 3, the Poet dropped the Red Silk of voluntary surrender. And yesterday... we wept for Lissa, who lost her freedom because she Danced too freely."

[Chat Block 3] "We have spoken of how a Free Woman should act. But today, we ask the dangerous question: What happens when she stops acting like one?"

[Chat Block 4] "In Teletus, you are what you act like. If you act Free, you are Free. If you act like a slave, the Law will oblige you and make you one."

[Chat Block 5] "Law 3.3 is titled 'Slave-Like Behavior.' It gives a Magistrate the power to strip your citizenship instantly. Today, we will test your knowledge of this cliff edge."

🎭 PART 2: "SAFE OR SLAVE?" (Interactive Game)

[Chat Block 6] /me steps out from behind the podium to the center of the rug. "I am going to play a game with you called 'Safe or Slave?'"

[Chat Block 7] "I will describe a woman's action. You will debate among yourselves for a moment, and then shout the verdict. Is she SAFE (Free)? Or is she SLAVE (Subject to Collaring)?"

[SCENARIO 1: THE PONYTAIL] "Scenario 1: A Low Caste Baker is sweating over her oven. To cool down, she pulls her hair back into a high ponytail, exposing her neck completely. She walks into the street to cool off. Safe... or Slave?"

(WAIT 30 SECONDS. Encourage the crowd to debate. "What do you think? Is a ponytail a crime?")

[Chat Block 8 - The Verdict] "Verdict: SLAVE. Or at least, Slave-Like."

[Chat Block 9] "Law 3.2.3 specifically forbids 'ponytails or slave-like hairstyles.' A ponytail is a handle. It exposes the neck for the collar. A Magistrate can cite her for looking like property. Use a bun. Use a net. Never a tail."

[SCENARIO 2: THE PUBLIC KISS] "Scenario 2: A young Free Woman meets her Companion in the market. She is happy to see him. She throws her arms around his neck and kisses him deeply on the mouth in front of the fruit stand. Safe... or Slave?"

(WAIT 30 SECONDS. Let them argue about "Love" vs "Law.")

[Chat Block 10 - The Verdict] "Verdict: SLAVE. This is Law 3.3.5: Public Lewdness."

[Chat Block 11] "A Free Woman keeps her affections private. Public display of lust is for kajirae who are advertising their skills. If you kiss like a slave in the street, do not be shocked if a Slaver asks for your price."

[SCENARIO 3: THE BRANDED PAPER] "Scenario 3: A woman arrives at the gate. She claims to be Free. However, she has a visible Brand on her thigh. But, she holds a sealed paper from the Scribes saying she was Manumitted yesterday. Safe... or Slave?"

(WAIT 30 SECONDS. This is a technicality question.)

[Chat Block 12 - The Verdict] "Verdict: SAFE. Law 3.3.9."

[Chat Block 13] "A woman with a brand is a slave unless she has documentation. If she has the paper, she is Free. The paper overrides the ink on her skin. BUT... she must carry it always. If she drops that paper in a puddle... she is a slave again."

[SCENARIO 4: THE VERBAL SLIP] "Scenario 4: A Free Woman is arguing with a merchant. In her anger, she shouts, 'You cheat me, Master Merchant!' She uses the word 'Master'. Safe... or Slave?"

(WAIT 30 SECONDS. This is tricky.)

[Chat Block 14 - The Verdict] "Verdict: DANGEROUSLY CLOSE."

[Chat Block 15] "Law 3.3.8 says addressing a Free Man as 'Master' places her as a slave. Context matters. If she says it sarcastically, she might survive. If she says it submissively? She has verbally submitted. Never use that word to a man unless you want to kneel."

❓ PART 3: THE OPEN FORUM (Q&A)

[Chat Block 16] /me returns to the podium. "We have identified the behaviors. Now, I open The Circle for your questions regarding Enslavement, Conduct, or the Trap."

(WAIT 30 SECONDS. If silence, Signal PLANT A.)

[PLANT A QUESTION] (Plant asks): "Mistress! I love to dance. If I dance at the tavern festival, will I be collared?"

[Chat Block 17 - Answer] /me raises an eyebrow. "It depends how you dance. Law 3.3.7 forbids 'Slave Dancing.'"

[Chat Block 18] "If you dance a simple circle dance with other women? You are safe. If you dance the sensuous dances of the paga tavern—hips rolling, teasing the men? Then you are advertising merchandise. If you dance like a product, you will be sold."

(Signal PLANT B)

[PLANT B QUESTION] (Plant asks): "Mistress, what about alcohol? If a Free Woman gets drunk in public, does she lose her freedom?"

[Chat Block 19 - Answer] /me nods solemnly. "Law 3.3.11. 'A Free Woman who is habitually drunk in public... shall be subject to enslavement.'"

[Chat Block 20] "Why? Because a drunk woman cannot protect her modesty. She cannot guard her veil. She loses her judgment. If you cannot govern yourself, the City will find a Master to govern you. Drink at home."

🏁 THE CLOSING

[Chat Block 21] /me looks over the crowd with a serious expression. "You see how thin the line is? A hairstyle. A word. A drink. That is the distance between the Robe and the Collar."

[Chat Block 22] "Next week, we shift our eyes to the Marketplace. Week 7: Merchant Law."

[Chat Block 23] "We will talk of Licenses, Weights, and Fraud. We will learn how to spot a cheated scale, and how to make coin without losing your hand."

[Chat Block 24] "Guard your coin and your virtue. The Circle is closed!"

(Signal Crier/Slave to end.)
