Here is the full production script for Week 6, Day 2.
To ensure this fills the 30–60 minute window, the play "The Debt" is written as a drama with significant dialogue. It requires the actors to emote the tension between "Arrogance" and "Consequence."
⚠️ IMPORTANT: You must copy "PART 2: THE PLAY" into a Notecard named Script: The Debt and give it to Aria (or your actors) at least 24 hours in advance.

🎤 PART 1: THE PROLOGUE (Kati)
(Walk to the podium. Wait for the crowd to settle.)
[Chat Block 1] /me steps onto the stage, moving to the side to allow the actors space. "Tal, Citizens. Yesterday, we spoke of the Verbal Trap—how a woman can lose her freedom by acting like a slave."
[Chat Block 2] "But there is a trap that is colder, harder, and much faster than behavior. It is the Trap of Mathematics."
[Chat Block 3] "We live in a city of coin. If you take goods, you must give silver. If you have no silver, you must give... something else. Law 1.8.2 governs Debts. It is a ruthless law."
[Chat Block 4] "Today, the Caste of Players presents 'The Debt.' It is the story of Lady Mira. She is High Caste. She is beautiful. She is wealthy... or so she thinks."
[Chat Block 5] "Watch how quickly the ledger turns against her. Watch what happens when the credit runs out. Actors, take the stage!"
/me steps off the stage and joins the audience to watch.
🎭 PART 2: THE PLAY (For the Actors)
(NOTE: Give this section to your Actors.)
[SCENE 1: THE SPREE]
(The Merchant stands behind his table. Lady Mira sweeps in, looking around with an air of superiority.)
Lady Mira: /me picks up a bolt of silk, feeling the texture. "This will do. I need three yards. And that necklace. And... oh, two jars of the Turian wine."
The Merchant: /me bows, but looks hesitant. He opens his scroll. "Of course, Lady Mira. That comes to... forty gold tarns."
Lady Mira: /me waves her hand dismissively. "Put it on my tab, Merchant. You know my family name. My father is good for it."
The Merchant: "Your father passed away three months ago, Lady. And your tab... it is already quite heavy. Perhaps a small payment today?"
Lady Mira: /me laughs, a sharp, cruel sound. "Do not insult me! I am a Lady of the High Caste. I do not carry heavy coins in my purse like a peasant. Write it down! I will pay when the harvest comes in."
The Merchant: /me sighs, but writes it down. "As you wish. But the harvest must come eventually, My Lady."
[SCENE 2: THE RECKONING]
(Lady Mira is admiring her new necklace. The Merchant steps out from behind the table. He looks serious.)
The Merchant: "Lady Mira. A moment."
Lady Mira: "Oh, look, the shopkeep. What is it? I am busy being beautiful."
The Merchant: "It has been three months. You have bought silks, wines, jewels, and perfumes. You have paid... nothing." /me unrolls the scroll. It hits the floor and rolls out. "You owe me Five Hundred Gold Tarns."
Lady Mira: /me pales slightly, but keeps her chin up. "So? I will pay. Eventually."
The Merchant: "No. I have creditors too. I need the coin today. Pay me, or return the goods."
Lady Mira: "I... I cannot. The wine is drunk. The silk is cut. The jewels... I lost one at the baths."
The Merchant: "Then you have stolen from me." /me signals to the side. "Magistrate! I call for judgment!"
[SCENE 3: THE JUDGMENT]
(The Magistrate enters. He looks at the ledger. He looks at Mira.)
The Magistrate: "Lady Mira. Do you deny this debt?"
Lady Mira: "I am High Caste! You cannot treat me like a common debtor! My status pays for everything!"
The Magistrate: "Status is not currency. Gold is currency. You have consumed this man's livelihood. You have no coin?"
Lady Mira: /me checks her empty purse frantically. "I... I have a little copper..."
The Magistrate: "Copper will not pay for Gold." /me closes the ledger with a snap. "Law 1.8.2.a: 'Free Women unable to repay debts may be enslaved, sold at auction, or compelled into labor.'"
Lady Mira: /me screams. "Enslaved? Me? But I am a Lady!"
The Magistrate: "Not anymore. You have no coin. You have no property. Therefore, You are the only asset left to cover the debt." /me hands a document to the Merchant. "She is yours. Her estimated value is... perhaps four hundred tarns. You will take a loss, Merchant, but it is better than nothing."
The Merchant: "Agreed." /me pulls a collar from his belt. "Kneel, girl. You have a lot of work to do to pay for that wine."
Lady Mira: /me falls to her knees, sobbing, as the Merchant snaps the collar on her neck. "My silk... my beautiful silk..."
(Merchant leads her away on a leash. Actors Bow.)
🎤 PART 3: THE ANALYSIS (Kati Returns)
(Wait for the actors to clear the stage. Walk back to the podium.)
[Chat Block 6] /me steps back up to the podium. The mood should be heavy. "A tragedy? Or justice?"
[Chat Block 7] "Mira made the mistake of thinking her Caste was her Wallet. It is not. A Scribe who cannot pay his tab is just a broke man."
[Chat Block 8] "Law 1.8.2 is the ultimate equalizer. It says that if you take from society without giving back, society has the right to take you back."
[Chat Block 9] "Mira became Collateral. When she signed for that silk, she was pledging her own body as the guarantee. She just didn't realize it."
❓ PART 4: Q&A SEGMENT (Extending the Time)
[Chat Block 10] /me leans on the podium. "This is a hard law. Does anyone have questions about Debt, Credit, or the seizure of persons?"
(WAIT. If silence, use PLANT A.)
[PLANT A QUESTION] (Plant asks): "Mistress! Could her family have saved her? If her brother came with the coin after she was collared, is she Free again?"
[Chat Block 11 - Answer] /me nods. "A hopeful question. If the family pays the debt before the gavel falls? Yes. She is saved."
[Chat Block 12] "But once the Magistrate signs the paper? She is property. If her brother comes later with the gold, he is simply buying a slave from the Merchant. He can choose to free her (Manumission), but he has to buy her first. And the Merchant might raise the price."
(WAIT. Signal PLANT B.)
[PLANT B QUESTION] (Plant asks): "Mistress, the law says 'Free Women.' What about men? If a man owes 500 gold tarns, is he enslaved?"
[Chat Block 13 - Answer] /me pauses. "It is different for men. Usually, a man is sent to Compelled Labor—the quarries, the fields, the oars."
[Chat Block 14] "He works until the debt is paid. It is a form of slavery, yes, but he is rarely sold as a pleasure slave. He is a machine of repayment. However... if the crime involves fraud or theft? He might lose a hand instead. Debt is dangerous for all."
🏁 THE CLOSING
[Chat Block 15] /me smooths her robes. "Do not spend what you do not have. It is a simple rule, but breaking it costs more than you can imagine."
[Chat Block 16] "Tomorrow, we look at a different kind of collar. Not one forced by debt, but one chosen by desire."
[Chat Block 17] "We will have a Poetry Reading titled 'The Red Silk.' It explores Voluntary Enslavement—why a woman might choose to kneel when she owes no debt at all."
[Chat Block 18] "Thank you to our players. The Circle is closed!"
(Signal Crier/Slave to end.)
