Here is the full production script for Week 1, Day 5.
To ensure this fills the 30–60 minute window, this script relies heavily on Interaction. You will need to coax the audience to participate during the "Mock Pledge" and the "Q&A."
Crucial Note: Ensure you have your two "Plants" (Staff/Friends) ready with their specific questions. Day 5 is the "Open Forum," and if the audience is shy, the event will die without your Plants.
📜 SECOND LIFE SCRIPT: WEEK 1, DAY 5
Event: The Forum (The Ceremony of Allegiance) Host: Kati Evans Target Duration: 40–50 Minutes (Highly Interactive)
🟢 PRE-EVENT CHECKLIST
[ ] Rez the Stage.
[ ] Staff: Ensure Plant A and Plant B are in the audience and have their Notecards.
[ ] Volunteer: Have a backup plan. If no actual newbie volunteers for the Pledge, have Plant A do it.
🎤 PART 1: THE RECAP (Kati)
(Walk to the podium. Look relaxed. This is a discussion, not a sermon.)
[Chat Block 1] /me steps onto the stage, resting her hands on the podium. She smiles, looking over the familiar faces who have returned all week. "Tal, Citizens. We have reached the end of our first week at The Circle."
[Chat Block 2] "It has been a heavy week. On Day 1, we spoke of the Ubar's Authority. On Day 2, we watched poor Drusus die for selling a key. On Day 3, we felt the Weight of the Stone. And yesterday, we heard the tale of Horgus, the man with two faces."
[Chat Block 3] "We have talked about why we serve the City. Today, we answer the practical question: How do you become one of us?"
[Chat Block 4] "I see many faces here. Some are Citizens. Some are Residents. Some are travelers from Ar or Turia. You may ask, 'How do I gain the protection of the City? How do I stop being a stranger?'"
[Chat Block 5] "The answer is found in Law 1.6. It says: 'Citizenship requires a formal pledge of allegiance to the Home Stone.' It is not enough to just live here. It is not enough to just rent a room. You must Swear."
[Chat Block 6] "Why? Because Citizenship is a contract. You give your loyalty. In return, you gain rights: Trial by Law. The Right to Trade. Protection from foreign slavers. Without the Oath, you are just a guest. And guests can be asked to leave."
✋ PART 2: THE MOCK PLEDGE (Interactive Activity)
[Chat Block 7] /me steps out from behind the podium to the center of the rug. "I want to demonstrate the seriousness of this oath. It is not a mumble in a dark room. It is a declaration."
[Chat Block 8] "I need a volunteer from the crowd. Someone brave enough to stand on this rug and recite the pledge with me. Who will step forward?"
(WAIT. Give the crowd 30 seconds. If someone walks up, greet them. If not, point to PLANT A.)
[Chat Block 9 - Instructions to Volunteer] "Welcome. Stand tall. Look at the crowd. This is not a play; these are your witnesses." /me raises her right hand. "Raise your hand. Repeat after me."
(Read these lines one by one, waiting for the Volunteer to type them back to you.)
[Line A] "I, [State Your Name]..."
[Line B] "...Do here and now..."
[Line C] "...Swear my life and steel..."
[Line D] "...To the Home Stone of Teletus..."
[Line E] "...Above all others, until death take me."
(Once they finish)
[Chat Block 10] /me nods respectfully to the volunteer. "Good. If this were the real ceremony with the High Scribe, your name would now be entered into the Great Ledger."
[Chat Block 11] "But understand what you just did. From that moment on, Law 1.4 (Treason) applies to you. You cannot serve another city. You cannot run when the walls are attacked. But... you also sleep under the protection of every sword in this city. Thank you. You may sit."
(Wait for volunteer to sit.)
🗣️ PART 3: THE OPEN FORUM (Q&A)
[Chat Block 12] /me returns to the podium. "Now, I open The Circle to you. We have discussed Authority, Treason, and Citizenship this week. This is your time to ask questions to the Magistrate."
[Chat Block 13] "Do not be shy. Ignorance is dangerous. Asking a question is safe. Who has a query?"
(WAIT 20 SECONDS. If the audience is chatty, answer them. If silence, Signal PLANT A.)
[PLANT A QUESTION] (Plant asks): "Mistress! If I am a Resident but not a Citizen, can I still vote in the High Council? I pay taxes too!"
[Chat Block 14 - Answer] /me shakes her head firmly. "No. Law 1.2.1 says only Heads of Caste vote. And to be a Head of Caste, you must be a Citizen."
[Chat Block 15] "Residents are valued. You work, you trade, you live here. But you are guests. Guests do not decide how the house is run. If you want a voice, you must swear the Oath and become a Citizen."
(Signal PLANT B)
[PLANT B QUESTION] (Plant asks): "Mistress! I am new. I was looking for a bathroom yesterday and walked into a building with guards. They yelled at me. How do I know where I can go?"
[Chat Block 16 - Answer] /me sighs, but gives a small smile. "An excellent question. Ignorance of geography can get you killed. You likely walked into a Ubarate Building—the Palace, the Council Chambers, or the Treasury."
[Chat Block 17] "Law 1.4.g warns against unauthorized access. If you see guards, stop. If you see a heavy iron door, stop. If you are found wandering in the Hall of Records without a Scribe, you may be accused of spying. When in doubt, ask a Guard before you cross the threshold."
(Signal PLANT C - Optional backup if you need more time)
[PLANT C QUESTION] (Plant asks): "Mistress, can a slave be a Citizen?"
[Chat Block 18 - Answer] /me laughs shortly. "No. Law 1.6.2.b is clear: 'Slaves hold no right to Citizenship or Caste.' A slave is property. Property cannot swear an oath, because property has no honor to pledge. A slave belongs to a Master; a Citizen belongs to the City."
🏁 THE CLOSING
[Chat Block 19] /me looks at the hourglass. "The sun moves on, and so must we. You have survived Week 1."
[Chat Block 20] "Next week, we look at the strangers who come to our gates. Week 2: Status & Entry. We will discuss the difference between a Visitor and an Assassin. We will talk about the City Gates and who is allowed to pass."
[Chat Block 21] "If you have friends arriving in Teletus, tell them to come next week. It might save them from being turned away at the spear-point."
[Chat Block 22] "Go forth. Defend the Stone. Obey the Ubar. The Circle is closed!"
(Signal Crier/Slave to end.)
