Here is the full production script for Week 10, Day 5.
To ensure this fills the 30–60 minute window, this script focuses on Roleplay Mechanics. The interactive segment "The Mock Hearing" puts players in the "hot seat" to test their ability to speak respectfully to authority. This usually generates good improvisation and extends the runtime.
Crucial Note: Ensure Plant A and Plant B are present. Their questions bridge the gap between "Free Law" and the upcoming "Slave Law" weeks.
📜 SECOND LIFE SCRIPT: WEEK 10, DAY 5

🎤 PART 1: THE RECAP (Kati)
(Walk to the podium. Look relaxed, but professional. Scan the crowd.)
[Chat Block 1] /me steps onto the stage, smoothing the folds of her robes. She looks over the crowd with a critical eye. "Tal, Citizens. We have reached the end of Week 10. The week of The Process."
[Chat Block 2] "We have walked the path of the criminal. On Day 1, we learned about Warrants—when the Guard can touch you. On Day 2, we saw a man die for Perjury because he tried to lie to the Judge."
[Chat Block 3] "On Day 3, the Poet warned us of the Empty Chair—the danger of running away. And yesterday... we saw that even an Acquittal is not safe if new evidence arises in Double Jeopardy."
[Chat Block 4] "Today, we end with the most practical lesson of all: How to Behave."
[Chat Block 5] "Many of you will face a Magistrate one day. Perhaps for a debt. Perhaps for a zoning violation. Perhaps because you punched a Scribe. Your life is in the Magistrate's hands. Do not annoy him."
⚖️ PART 2: THE RULES OF DECORUM (Lecture)
[Chat Block 6] /me leans on the podium. "Rule Number One: Appearance." "If you walk into court looking like a beggar, you will be judged like a beggar. Wash your face. Wear your Caste colors. If you look like you respect yourself, the Magistrate might respect you too."
[Chat Block 7] "Rule Number Two: Attendance." "Law 4.6.1: 'A Free Person... who refuses to appear may be seized and compelled.' Do not make the Guards drag you. If you walk in voluntarily, you look innocent. If you are dragged in, you look guilty."
[Chat Block 8] "Rule Number Three: The Tongue." "Do not interrupt. Do not shout. Address the Magistrate as 'Magistrate' or 'Your Honor.' If you insult the Court, you can be held in Contempt. And Contempt usually involves a whip."
🎭 PART 3: THE MOCK HEARING (Interactive Game)
[Chat Block 9] /me steps over to the High Chair/Throne on the stage and sits down. "I want to practice. I am now the Magistrate. I need a volunteer to be The Accused."
[Chat Block 10] "I will accuse you of a minor crime. You must try to defend yourself using Perfect Etiquette. If you are rude, I will fine you. Who is brave enough?"
(WAIT 30 SECONDS. If a player volunteers, use them. If not, signal PLANT A.)
[SCENARIO: THE NOISY GOAT] "The Charge: You keep a goat in your apartment. It screams all night. Your neighbors cannot sleep. It smells. Defend yourself."
(Let the Volunteer roleplay their defense. Watch for mistakes.)
[If they interrupt you:] "STOP. You interrupted the Magistrate. That is a 5 copper fine. Wait until I finish speaking."
[If they get angry/shout:] "STOP. You are emotional. Emotion implies guilt. Calm down. Speak facts, not feelings."
[If they do well:] "Verdict: You spoke well. You addressed me as Magistrate. You admitted the goat exists but offered a solution (eating the goat). Case Dismissed."
(Call a second volunteer if time permits.)
❓ PART 4: THE OPEN FORUM (Q&A)
[Chat Block 11] /me returns to the podium. "I open The Circle to you. Ask me about Courtrooms, Judges, or Advocates."
(WAIT 30 SECONDS. If silence, Signal PLANT A.)
[PLANT A QUESTION] (Plant asks): "Mistress! I am terrible at speaking. I get nervous and stutter. Can I hire someone to talk for me?"
[Chat Block 12 - Answer] /me nods enthusiastically. "Yes. Please do."
[Chat Block 13] "Law 4.1.4 mentions Advocates. You can hire a Scribe, a Lawyer, or an eloquent friend to speak for you. If you have a temper, or if you are shy, pay an Advocate. It is worth the coin to have a calm voice argue your case."
(Signal PLANT B)
[PLANT B QUESTION] (Plant asks): "Mistress, can my slave testify for me? She saw everything!"
[Chat Block 14 - Answer] /me grimaces. "She can, but you might not want her to."
[Chat Block 15] "Law 6.8.1: 'Magistrates may compel a slave’s testimony under torture.'"
[Chat Block 16] "The Law assumes slaves lie to protect their Masters. Therefore, a slave's word is only trusted if it is... forced. If you call your slave to the stand, be prepared for her to be hurt. It is often better to find a Free witness."
🏁 THE CLOSING
[Chat Block 17] /me smooths her robes. "The Courtroom is a theater. Play your part well, and you may walk out free. Play it poorly, and you walk out in chains."
[Chat Block 18] "Next week, we look at the property that breathes. Week 11: Slavery Law (Ownership)."
[Chat Block 19] "We will discuss Papers, Collars, and the Kennels. We will learn what happens if you lose your registration papers, and how the City deals with stray property."
[Chat Block 20] "Masters, bring your girls. Slaves, come and learn who really owns you."
[Chat Block 21] "The Circle is closed!"
(Signal Crier/Slave to end.)
